Imagine Central Perk 20 years into the future: The couches and the coffee would still be there for you, but how about America’s favorite Friends? In an exclusive to LIFE.com, Courteney Cox Arquette, a.k.a. Monica Geller, reveals how the characters would age:

Monica and Chandler (Cox Arquette and Matthew Perry): “Monica would be a stay-at-home mom and their kids would be raised and she’d be obsessing over them—they would probably be her whole life. Chandler would be the jokester father who wasn’t a great communicator.”

Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow): “She would still be living on her own—I forget what happened at the end of the show, she didn’t get married, did she?—and she’d be taking care of the triplets. They would be her best friends and she’d be everyone’s favorite aunt.” (Ed. note: Phoebe did get married to Mike Hannigan—played by Paul Rudd—in the final season. How quickly some friends forget....)

Joey (Matt LeBlanc): “He would either be working in Hollywood or retired somewhere, living with a beautiful girlfriend.”

Ross and Rachel (David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston): “They would still be living in N.Y.C. Still together. Still be doing the same exact kinds of things. He’d be at the museum, she’d be in fashion and a working mom.”
