LIFE on the Rails: Boxcar Logos

Some images simply resonate. Example: Railroad line logos on the sides of boxcars spark a slew of associations—commerce, travel, energy, vast open spaces—that, taken together, paint a portrait of a vanishing, and perhaps already vanished, America. Then again, none other than Warren Buffet, the "Oracle of Omaha" and the world's second-richest human, recently made what he called an "all-in wager on the economic future of the United States" when he spent $26 billion of his own cash (yes, that's billion with a "b") to acquire all of the Texas-based railroad, Burlington Northern Santa Fe.
