Don't Stop the Presses!

A printing press stamps out copies of the Lassen Advocate in Calfornia in 1944. When editors yelled "Stop the presses!" they were being literal: If a late-breaking story were important enough, the printers could go through the costly and expensive process of stopping the printing and re-jiggering the type to include the new material.
