Jackie Robinson: American Pioneer

Jackie Robinson in Albany, NY

Jackie Robinson in Albany, NY

Albany Times-Union reporter Bill Kennedy (who later wrote the great American fictional trilogy of "Ironweed," "Billy Phelan's Greatest Game," and "Legs," among other fine novels) interviews Jackie Robinson as racial tensions in the New York state capitol spike in the mid-1960s. Robinson often visited racially charged cities and towns, lending his natural authority to efforts to foster dialog and avoid violence.
