In May 1953, LIFE staffer Alfred Eisenstaedt visited Marilyn at her home. From the book "Eisenstaedt Remembrances": "[He] recalls that Monroe was a little flustered, and perhaps he was, too, because he confused a camera holding black-and-white film with one holding color, and as a result some of his exposures were slightly off."
