Charlie Chaplin: Onscreen Genius

The Little Tramp

The Little Tramp

Charlie Chaplin's "little tramp" character, which appeared in dozens of films over the years, remains one of cinema's most recognizable (and parodied) characters -- a sweet, dignified, romantic creature, often knocked down but never defeated. If Chaplin had never created another character during his long career, he would still be a film legend for having given the world the little tramp.
