March 23, 1956: Despite the smiles, Martin Luther King has just been found guilty and sentenced to hard labor for conspiring to boycott segregated buses. On Nov. 13, the U.S. Supreme Court rules bus segregation unconstitutional. "I was proud of my crime," King says. "It was the crime of joining my people in a nonviolent protest against injustice."
