Old Gold: Great Athletes Over 40

George Blanda

George Blanda

Quarterback and placekicker Blanda, who played pro ball until he was 48, was the first player in the NFL to score 2,000 points in his career. "The Grand Old Man" also holds the record for the longest pro career at 26 years. He once threw seven touchdowns in one game, and is the only pro footballer to have played in four different decades (1940s, '50s, '60s, and '70s).
