Fantasy & Sci-Fi Magazine Art
Women on the Brain
While there have been scores of science fiction and fantasy magazine titles through the decades, of wildly varying quality, the Golden Age of both genres lasted through the 1940s and '50s. Some of the titles that thrived then still survive -- perhaps most notably the 60-year-old Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction (founded in 1949). Many other wonderfully evocative titles (Planet Stories; Fantastic Adventures; Nebula; Uncanny Tales) came and went, with some lasting decades while others stuck around for only a handful of issues. But all the magazines shared this: a love of trippy, eerie, cheesy, and often surreal cover art.
