After almost 40 years in action, Aerosmith hit a rough patch: In November 2009, guitarist Joe Perry told the Las Vegas Sun that singer Steven Tyler, as far as he knew, had quit the band. Trouble within the group had been brewing for a while, with tour dates canceled and Perry complaining in interviews that he cannot get Tyler to return his phone calls, much less co-write new music — Aerosmith haven't made original material in eight years.
